Santa Eulària des Riu: villas and local guide
Santa Eulària des Riu villa guide to the town, marina and promenade, with Cala Llonga, Roca Llisa, Jesús and Sant Carles, plus Tagomago and markets.
Santa Eulària des Riu spans the east coast from a lived-in town and marina to coves, golf and rural parishes. Plan days between the seafront promenade, Cala Llonga’s bay, Jesús and Roca Llisa, or Sant Carles and Tagomago’s quieter shore.
Santa Eulària des Riu
Santa Eulària des Riu is Ibiza’s broad eastern municipality, extending from the town and its marina across a varied coastline of sandy bays, rocky headlands and rural parishes. Its principal town sits at the mouth of the island’s only river and combines a seafront promenade, everyday services and a substantial resident population. To the south-west, Jesús links the municipality to the Bay of Talamanca and a rugged coast around Cap Martinet; Roca Llisa lies beside Golf Ibiza and Cala Llonga opens into a deep, sheltered inlet.
North and east of town, Es Canar and the Sant Carles parish bring beaches, markets, old farming landscapes and historic rural architecture into the picture. Tagomago, the long, rocky islet off the north-east coast, belongs to the municipality and lies beside the protected north-east Ibiza–Tagomago marine reserve. The result is an east-coast base with town facilities, coastal activity and quieter inland terrain rather than a single resort identity.

Staying here
A private stay in Santa Eulària des Riu can be shaped around the sea, the town or the countryside. Santa Eulària town suits families and travellers who value a promenade, urban beaches, restaurants, marina services and a straightforward evening walk. Cala Llonga has a wide sandy beach with shallow water, lifeguards and water-sport options, making it practical for families; Roca Llisa particularly suits golfers, while its position also works for couples and small groups wanting a quieter base near the south-east coast.
Jesús is useful for food, heritage and the Cap Martinet coastline; treat Talamanca as the adjacent Jesús-side of the bay rather than a wholly municipal destination. Sant Carles and the north-east coast suit walkers, market-goers and guests who prefer coves, farmed valleys and a slower pattern of days. Spring and autumn are particularly agreeable for the municipality’s walking and cycling routes; summer brings the fullest beach, market and restaurant programme, as well as the greatest pressure on roads and parking.
A car is strongly useful outside Santa Eulària town, especially for rural properties, coves and Sant Carles. In winter, the coast and countryside are quieter, but seasonal venues and markets operate on reduced schedules, so check opening arrangements before planning meals or shopping.
Towns, villages and coast
- Santa Eulària des Riu — The municipality’s principal town has a seafront promenade, marina, urban beaches and the mouth of the only river in Ibiza and the Balearic Islands. Puig de Missa, Can Ros and the River Route add a strong heritage dimension beyond the waterfront.
- Jesús and the Talamanca-side coast — Jesús is a Santa Eulària parish with a late-Gothic altarpiece and the historic wetland landscape of Ses Feixes. Its coast includes Cap Martinet, Cala Olivera and s’Estanyol; the municipality looks over the Bay of Talamanca, while Talamanca beach and town should not be treated as wholly municipal.
- Roca Llisa — A residential area in the Jesús parish, Roca Llisa sits beside Golf Ibiza. It is the municipality’s clear choice for guests prioritising golf and a calm south-east-coast setting.
- Cala Llonga — Cala Llonga is a deep, cliff-framed inlet with a broad fine-sand beach, family facilities and summer boat connections. It is a practical coast-focused alternative to the town.
- Es Canar — Es Canar developed around its sandy beach and small fishing port. It is closely associated with the Wednesday Punta Arabí Hippy Market and the beaches of the Sant Carles parish.
- Sant Carles de Peralta and Tagomago coast — Sant Carles is a small rural parish centred on its late-18th-century church, surrounding valleys and the Las Dalias market. Its coast includes Cala Nova, Cala Llenya, Es Figueral and viewpoints towards Tagomago.
