Selva: villas and village life guide
Discover Selva villas and our area guide to olive groves, Sant Llorenç, Caimari and the GR 222, with village markets and Tramuntana foothill walks.
Set at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana, Selva and its neighbouring villages offer olive groves, parish squares and walking routes, with the Caimari–Lluc section of the GR 222 and Inca nearby for wider services.
Selva
Selva is an inland municipality in Mallorca’s Raiguer district, at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana. Its main village, also called Selva, gathers around Plaça Major and the stepped parish church of Sant Llorenç; the municipal territory then extends through Caimari, Moscari, Biniamar and the much smaller hamlet of Binibona. This is agricultural country shaped by olive groves, dry-stone terraces, small holdings and the mountain road towards Lluc.
Caimari is closely associated with olive oil and its autumn fair, while Moscari and Biniamar retain a more compact village scale and traditional streetscape. The character is local rather than resort-led: mornings revolve around markets, cafés and practical village errands, and the surrounding terrain invites walking and cycling. The municipality also forms a useful base for the signed Caimari–Lluc section of the Artà–Lluc GR 222, while the larger town of Inca broadens the choice of shops and services.

Staying here
A private stay in Selva suits travellers who value space, a rural setting and access to the Tramuntana foothills over being on the shore. The countryside between Selva and Moscari is particularly well placed for couples, walkers and small groups wanting an unhurried base; Selva village brings the broadest choice of dining and the Wednesday market, while Caimari is the natural choice for olive-oil culture and the route towards Lluc. Families can use the village markets, short local explorations and the open landscape, provided they are comfortable with a car-dependent stay.
Golfers can plan a round at Golf Pollença, and food-minded visitors have serious regional cooking in both Selva and Caimari. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable periods for walking, cycling and meals outside; June and November add the Herbs and Olive fairs. Summer is warm and busier on the mountain approaches, while winter is notably quiet and some village restaurants operate reduced days.
A car is strongly advisable for shopping, beaches and excursions. Selva has no beach or marina; for a coastal day, look towards Alcúdia Bay and Port d’Alcúdia. Expect narrow village streets, winding mountain roads and a deliberately low-key evening rhythm rather than resort nightlife.
