Andratx

Andratx is a municipality on Mallorca’s south-western edge, where the Serra de Tramuntana meets a deeply indented Mediterranean coast. Its administrative town, known locally as La Vila, gathers everyday services, a historic centre and the Wednesday market around the Castell de Son Mas town hall. Port d’Andratx adds a working waterfront, sailing activity and restaurants along the harbour; Camp de Mar centres on a sandy bay and its golf course.

Inland, s’Arracó retains orchard plots, traditional cafés and access to paths towards La Trapa, while Sant Elm faces Sa Dragonera and combines two sandy beaches with boat departures for the natural park. The municipality’s variety is its strength: villages, sea coves, small beaches, cultural venues and mountain foothills sit within one administrative area.

Staying here

Staying in a private villa here favours guests who want to mix time at home with beaches, harbour dining, outdoor sport and independent exploration. Port d’Andratx is the practical base for couples, groups and food-led stays, with waterfront restaurants, sailing activity and shops along the harbour. Camp de Mar works particularly well for families seeking a sandy, calm-water beach and for golfers; s’Arracó and the inland hills suit walkers using routes towards La Trapa.

Sant Elm suits beach days, Dragonera excursions and a more deliberately low-key coastal base. A car is strongly advisable for a villa stay, especially outside Port d’Andratx, because the municipality’s town, port, beach settlements, golf course and trailheads are dispersed. Camp de Mar and Sant Elm provide the principal sandy beaches, while Port d’Andratx is better for its marina and coves.

For walking, official Dragonera guidance lists the Llebeig route as year-round, weather permitting. Beach-focused stays are most straightforward from April to October, the stated season for the Camp de Mar and Sant Elm visitor offices. Summer brings the patronal calendar, including the Port’s Carme festivities and Sant Elm’s Moros i Cristians; outside that season, the Camp de Mar and Sant Elm visitor offices are closed.
