Alcúdia: villas and area guide

Our Alcúdia villas and area guide spans the walled town, Pol·lèntia, Port d'Alcúdia, Platja d'Alcúdia and Alcanada, with La Victòria and s'Albufereta.

On Mallorca’s north peninsula, Alcúdia contrasts a walled historic centre and Roman Pol·lèntia with Port d'Alcúdia’s broad shore. Bonaire, Mal Pas and Alcanada bring pine-lined coves, a lighthouse view and access to golf and walks.

Alcúdia

Alcúdia is a north-Mallorca municipality on the peninsula between the bays of Alcúdia and Pollença. Its character comes from the contrast between a compact, walled historic town, the working and leisure waterfront of Port d'Alcúdia, and a more rugged coastal edge of pine, coves and headlands. Within the old town, fourteenth-century walls enclose lanes, squares and the Church of Sant Jaume; the Roman city of Pol·lèntia lies immediately outside them.

Port d'Alcúdia brings the municipality's broad sandy shore, marina activity, restaurants and water sports. On the Bay of Pollença side, Bonaire and Mal Pas are quieter residential coastal areas with Sant Joan and Sant Pere beaches and Marina de Bonaire. South-east of the port, Alcanada combines a pine-fringed pebble shore, views to its lighthouse islet and the coastal golf course. This is a municipality with distinct bases rather than one uniform resort.

Staying here

A private stay in Alcúdia can be as self-contained or as sociable as guests choose. Port d'Alcúdia and the stretch around Platja d'Alcúdia suit families wanting a long, gently shelving sandy beach, organised water activities and ready access to the promenade. The historic centre works well for food-minded couples and small groups who value the market, Roman and medieval heritage, and restaurants within a walkable setting.

Bonaire and Mal Pas favour couples, swimmers and small groups seeking the Bay of Pollença side, small beaches and the marina; a car is advisable there and is explicitly needed for hillside Bonaire accommodation. Alcanada is the natural choice for golfers and for guests who prefer a quieter, pine-lined coast. Walkers have the La Victòria and Coll Baix routes, while birdwatchers can look to s'Albufereta.

June to September is the period when Platja d'Alcúdia has its full seasonal amenities and activity programme; May, June, September and October are often the more measured choices for combining coast, walking and golf. In high summer the port promenade, principal beach and old-town market are busier. Winter is far quieter, and some seasonal dining, including Can Costa, closes for part of it.

Towns, villages and coast
