Everything you need to know about private chef services in Mallorca. Costs, menus, dietary requirements, and how to choose the right chef for your villa holiday.
Why a Private Chef Transforms Your Villa Holiday
A private chef can elevate a villa holiday, bringing tailored dining to the relaxed setting of your own terrace. It can remove the daily question of 'where shall we eat?' and create an occasion without restaurant reservations, driving or dress codes.
For families, a chef can plan meals around different tastes. For groups, private dining can simplify meals for larger parties. For couples, it can create the atmosphere of a candlelit dinner under the stars. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners can be discussed according to your plans and preferences.
At Azul Stays, private-chef services can be requested for your villa stay. Cuisine, provider, scope, pricing and availability are confirmed for each booking. This guide covers what to consider when arranging a private chef for your villa stay.
Types of Private Chef Service
Full-Board Chef — Your chef arrives in the morning (typically 8-9 AM) and prepares breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They handle all shopping, preparation, cooking, and kitchen cleanup. This is the most immersive option, ideal for groups who want to spend entire days at the villa.
Half-Board Chef — A flexible arrangement. Your chef prepares breakfast and dinner (or lunch and dinner), giving you freedom to explore restaurants for one meal. They shop in the morning, prepare breakfast, then return in the afternoon for dinner service.
Dinner-Only Chef — Perfect for guests who want to explore during the day and come home to a prepared meal. The chef arrives mid-afternoon, prepares a multi-course dinner, serves it, and cleans up.
Event Chef — For a specific celebration (birthday dinner, anniversary, welcome party), a chef can be requested for a single evening with a bespoke menu. Often includes additional service staff.
BBQ/Paella Chef — A more casual option for a specific day. The chef arrives with all ingredients and equipment, prepares a spectacular outdoor feast, and handles everything. Popular for pool days and group gatherings.
What Does a Private Chef Cost in Mallorca?
There is no single price for a private chef in Mallorca: the cost depends on the chef, the number of meals per day, the menu, the ingredients and the size of your group. Azul Stays sends a written proposal for your dates, and the chef, menu and price are confirmed for each booking.
What shapes the price
- Service format: dinner only, half-board, full-board or a single event
- Menu style: relaxed family meals, Mediterranean classics or a multi-course tasting menu
- Ingredients: market produce, premium seafood or speciality items
- Group size, plus any service staff, bar service or wine pairings
- Equipment for special formats, such as paella cooked over a fire
Food costs Whether ingredients are included in the chef's fee or charged separately is set out in your proposal.
Good to know Kitchen set-up and clean-up, timings and staffing are agreed before your stay. Cooking classes, market tours and themed evenings can also be requested.
Choosing the Right Chef
Cuisine Style — Chefs can be requested for a range of styles, including Mediterranean/Mallorcan, French fine dining, Italian, Japanese/Asian fusion, healthy/wellness cuisine, plant-based/vegan, Middle Eastern and BBQ/grill. Tell us your preferences and we'll look for a suitable match.
Dietary Requirements — Needs such as gluten-free, dairy-free, nut allergies, vegetarian, vegan, kosher-style, halal, low-carb/keto and children's preferences can be discussed when you request a chef. Share them in advance so menus can be planned accordingly.
Service Style — Some guests prefer a visible, interactive chef who explains dishes and engages with the group. Others prefer invisible service where meals simply appear. Let us know which style you prefer.
Language — If a particular language matters for menu discussions, mention it when you request a chef.
First Evening — For longer stays, ask whether a simpler first-evening menu is possible, so you can get to know the chef's style before the rest of the week.

How to Book & Practical Tips
Booking Timeline — Request your chef as early as possible, particularly for July and August. Last-minute requests are sometimes possible but limit the choice of chef.
The Process — Tell us your dates, group size, dietary requirements, cuisine preferences, and budget. We'll come back with suitable options and, where available, sample menus. Once you've chosen, the chef will contact you directly to discuss specific menu preferences and any special requests.
Kitchen Requirements — Private chefs are used to working in villa kitchens of different sizes and often bring their own knives and specialist equipment. Kitchen equipment varies by villa, so the chef will check the details in advance; for large groups, supplementary equipment may be suggested.
Shopping — Shopping is usually handled by the chef, using markets such as Palma's Mercat de l'Olivar, local fishmongers and specialist suppliers. How food costs are settled is agreed in advance; some guests prefer to set a daily food budget.
Tipping — Gratuities are entirely at your discretion.
